Kyra Howell represents and advises clients in connection with a wide range of commercial real estate transactions. Kyra focuses on the financing, acquisition, disposition, and development of land, multi-family, long-term care, commercial office, retail, warehouse, and industrial properties. In the commercial real estate arena, her experience includes HUD transactions involving long-term care facilities, primary and mezzanine lending in bridge-to-HUD transactions for long-term care and multi-family transactions, standard commercial lending transactions with respect to hotels, medical office buildings, and long-term care facilities, and opinion letters.

Prior to joining MMM, Kyra practiced commercial real estate and finance in AmLaw 200 firms and previously managed her own multi-office firm in Virginia, where she assisted clients with real estate transactions, business matters, civil litigation, and estate planning.

  • Representation of a healthcare lender in the acquisition and refinance of an aggregate $300 million credit facility with multiple lenders.
  • Representation of a lender in due diligence relating to the evaluation of a pool of loans for a CLO.
  • Representation of a lender with respect to a construction loan for the development of a franchise hotel property.
  •   of a lender/investor providing a bridge loan for the acquisition of land to develop a single-family housing community.
  • Representation of a lender in bridge-to-HUD loans for multi-family properties.
  • Representation of a lender/landlord in the specialty hospital industry in the provision of loans to borrower/tenants.
  • Representation of national lenders in multi-facility transactions involving the purchase of skilled nursing and assisted living facilities.
  • Representation of a lender with regard to the extension of a $2.2 million construction loan for an existing assisted living facility addition.
  • Representation of a national owner/operator in dozens of HUD-insured loan transactions under a single master lease over a period of several years.
  • Representation of multiple privately held owner/operators in the sale of skilled nursing facilities in Tennessee, including advising an entity on wind up and dissolution.
  • Representation of an owner/operator of a continuing care retirement community in connection with a renovation loan process.
  • Representation of borrowers in multiple loans for the acquisition of medical office buildings across the country.
  • Representation of an owner in a real estate transaction involving the sale of a vacant facility.
  • Representation of an emerging business within the healthcare industry in contractual relationship with medical providers, sales partners, and product manufacturers, including supervising the implementation, expansion and cohesiveness of its corporate functions.
  • Representation of the owners of long term care facilities in refinancing existing loans and closing accounts receivable lending transactions.
  • Representation of nationally branded companies in providing Tennessee, DC and Virginia opinion letters.
  • Representation of an operator of skilled nursing and independent living facilities in acquiring the leasehold of a facility in bankruptcy.
