China Appoints MMM to List of Approved Legal Counsel: Ministry of Commerce Qualifies Firm for WTO Work

10.28.2013

Atlanta (October 2013) ─ China’s Ministry of Commerce recently included Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP on a list of law firms approved to handle World Trade Organization (WTO) issues for the Ministry. The firm is one of only 15 international and ten China-based firms accepted for the newly-established panel. This is the first time the People’s Republic of China has selected and pre-qualified legal counsel for WTO issues, regional trade agreements and cross-border dispute resolution.

Morris, Manning has worked with a large number of “inbound” Chinese firms and state-owned enterprises doing business inside the U.S. for several years. It has advised them on a wide range of legal issues including international trade, intellectual property, corporate issues, public affairs, litigation and dispute resolution. What’s more, in 2008 the firm co-hosted a legal conference with the Ministry of Commerce to educate Chinese businesses on how to work within the American legal system. MMM was the only American law firm participating in the event.

The firm earned the spot on the new legal panel through an open competitive bidding process. Its term will last for two years.
