Darla Grinstead McKenzie is a Senior Counsel in the firm’s Real Estate Practice at the Northside (North Atlanta) office. She specializes in all areas of residential real estate, lending, development and finance and also practices in the area of planned community development, representing developers, builders and lenders in planned communities and in the creation, documentation and financing of all types and sizes of planned real estate developments, from large mixed-use communities with retail, office and residential components to smaller single-use residential, office and retail condominiums, both new construction and conversion, as well as other planned unit developments such as townhomes, single-family homes and senior housing communities. She assists with the formation of the ownership entities, the drafting of the necessary documentation and compliance with applicable statutes, including the Georgia Condominium Act, the federal Interstate Land Sales Full Disclosure Act (ILSA) and its state counterparts and the Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and FHA/VA approval process, when applicable.
Ms. McKenzie is an instructor for the Dogwood Learning Institute, a school approved by the Georgia Real Estate Commission, to provide continuing education to licensed brokers and agents on legal matters and concerns. She also provides advice on the management and operation of the owners associations and advises developers and builders in their sales and marketing activities.
Ms. McKenzie has practiced real estate law with Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP since 1981 and has experience in a wide range of commercial and residential real estate areas, including acquisitions, sales, development, construction and finance.
