Since the onset of Name, Image & Likeness (NIL), student athletes have found themselves becoming entrepreneurs, receiving an onslaught of brand partnership and endorsement deal offerings. Ricardo Jackman, partner and chair of MMM’s Sports & Entertainment practice, spoke with Sports Illustrated’s Nick Messineo to discuss this new market for attorneys and how attorneys can bolster the student-athlete’s business prospects.
“Once you hire an attorney, the student-athlete now has the support of an entire law firm,” Jackman said. “It’s about helping the student-athletes become professionals, whether that means being an athlete or a professional in the workforce after their playing career.”
