Selecting jurors for long cases can be a difficult and complex process. It requires careful consideration of the trial’s anticipated length and the demographics of potential jurors. Jeff Douglass, who heads our Litigation team, tells Law360 Pulse that while jurors are the most important part of a trial, low pay and the length of service can greatly affect a case.
“When you face the prospect of not getting paid, or getting paid $25 or $50 a day, for six to nine months, that is excluding people," he said. “You're not getting a jury that's representative of the broader population."
