“Just the Beginning - A Pipeline Organization” Honors MMM’s Huynh

Atlanta/Washington D.C. (August 31, 2021) - Just the Beginning - A Pipeline Organization, is dedicated to developing and nurturing interest in the law among young people from groups underrepresented in the legal profession. The nonprofit also works to support the diverse student’s continued advancement.

Every year it honors five young lawyers from across the country with its “5 Under 40” awards, which recognize their work increasing diversity in the legal field. Daniel Huynh, who chairs MMM’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Initiative, is one of this year’s honorees. Dan, a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property group, drafted the firm’s five-year DEI Strategic Plan. One part of this plan, now underway, includes providing a mentorship program specifically focused on helping senior associates in their journey to partnership.

Dan has also expanded the firm’s recruitment efforts to include several historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and other schools with large minority populations. He also leads MMM’s high school internship program, now in its 12th year, for diverse high school students. The paid internship gives the teens access to professionals in the legal industry while teaching them about legal careers before they enter college. A participant in the high school pipeline program nominated Huynh for the national “5 Under 40” award, which he will receive the award at the 2021 Light the Spark Celebration on October 14, 2021.

Huynh’s other work in the community includes serving on the boards of the Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association (GAPABA), the National Conference of Vietnamese American Attorneys and Asian Americans Advancing Justice. He is a founding board member of the Vietnamese American Bar Association of Georgia. He’s pro bono counsel for four diverse Georgia-made documentaries celebrating diversity, education and adoption.
