At MMM, we believe that diversity and equality are key to a better, more inclusive world and workplace. This core belief guides how we construct teams, cultivate leaders and create a culture where all of our colleagues and clients can prosper. Through our refreshed and accelerated approach to diversity and inclusion, we are building a firm that contributes to everyone’s success.

In 2020, we created a five-year Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) strategic plan to amplify our existing efforts. Some highlights of the plan include:

  • Establishing a partnership mentoring program for diverse senior associates and a first-year mentoring program for diverse junior associates.
  • Hosting regular town hall meetings where leadership reports on DEI efforts and issues, and holding special Management Committee meetings to identify areas for improvement and opportunity.
  • Expanding summer program recruiting efforts through interviews at several HBCUs and law schools with large minority student populations. This is already working well; our 2021 summer associate class is comprised of 70% women and 50% minorities, including 40% black associates.
  • Continuing our legal internship program for diverse high school students this summer. Designed to help encourage more diverse students to pursue legal careers, it was founded in 2010.
  • Investing in our diverse staff, including creating a scholarship program for professional development and education.

We are committed to improving diversity at MMM and in the legal community. These steps are the beginning of building a better law firm, together.
