Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP continues to grow, adding new offices and practice areas to meet ongoing client demand through Q3 of 2009. This quarterly summary serves to highlight just some of our accomplishments from the first nine months of 2009, including:

  • MMM has been lead counsel on five public offerings in 2009 with a combined market value of over $6 billion, including an initial public offering (IPO) raising $3.3 billion for our client.
  • MMM was ranked by Dow Jones Private Equity Analyst as a Top 50 law firm for its number of Venture Capital and Private Equity deals for 2008.
  • MMM continues its strong performance in the Venture Capital/Private Equity area in 2009 closing over 20 transactions with a combined market value of over $250 million.
  • MMM recently became the law firm underwriter of the Georgia CIO Leadership Association, the region’s leading CIO organization with over 100 CIO members.
  • MMM continues to expand its Green Technology Practice, representing 2 of the Top 25 ‘clean energy’ companies in the U.S. (Businessweek, July 27, 2009) and the only two located in the Southeast; SmartSynch, a leader in the smart grid market, and Solicore, Inc., a leader of embedded power solutions.
  • MMM client Sriya Innovation’s co-founder Srinivas Kilambi was recognized as Up-and-Coming Entrepreneur of the Year by The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE).
  • MMM is advising Hybrid Kinetic Motors (HK Motors), a Chinese hybrid car manufacturer, in the development of its plans to build a new automotive plant in Alabama.
  • MMM expanded its vibrant Asia Practice by opening offices in Taipei, Taiwan and Beijing, China.
  • MMM was ranked by Intellectual Property Today as a Top 200 law firm based on the extensive number of patent filings by the firm.
  • MMM added three new practices in 2009 - Timberland Investments & Forest Products, Energy & Infrastructure Finance, and Special Investigations.
  • MMM’s litigation practice continues to represent clients ranging from Fortune 50 companies and international conglomerates to regional financial institutions in a wide array of litigation matters. Notably, the firm won a major decision for Hansen & Hundebol, a major Danish company and firm client for the past decade.
  • MMM continues to represent leading real estate companies in matters ranging from coast to coast, including: RMK Timberland in the purchase of 60,000 acres in Wisconsin and closing a new development for Wood Partners in Oakland, California.

Notably, the firm elected Louise M. Wells its new Managing Partner. Wells, who has been with the firm for over 30 years, is the first female to hold the position since the firm was founded in 1976.
