Atlanta (Nov. 28, 2012) ─ Charles “Chuck” Beaudrot, a Senior Partner in the Tax Practice of Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP, has accepted an appointment to the newly-created Georgia Tax Tribunal ─ an independent, executive branch forum dedicated to tax appeals. The establishment of the new court is one result of a comprehensive tax reform effort Gov. Nathan Deal launched several years ago. Beaudrot will begin his four-year term as an administrative law judge starting Jan. 1.
“In this day and age, justice delayed is justice denied,” Beaudrot said. “The Georgia tax system has done a good job, but this new court will help things move forward more promptly and thoroughly. Improving the pace of resolving tax issues will be good for business, and therefore good for the economy. Creating this court is a symbol of the state’s commitment to creating an open environment that is supportive of the business community.”
Earlier this year, Gov. Deal signed House Bill 100, sponsored by Rep. Allen Peake, into law. One provision of the law established the new tax body to resolve disputes involving tax decisions by the Georgia Department of Revenue. Beaudrot describes it as being similar to the federal Tax Court, focused specifically on statewide issues.
While sad to see Beaudrot leave, the firm congratulates him on the achievement, for which they say he is perfectly suited.

Beaudrot is well-known in the finance and tax community. He frequently speaks on tax, partnership and corporate topics for groups including the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Institute for Continuing Legal Education in Georgia and the Georgia Real Estate Tax Conference. He has been particularly active in the area of flow-through entities in Georgia, having participated in the drafting process for Georgia’s LLC and LLP legislation. His extensive honors include being named in Chambers USA, The Legal 500, Georgia Trend magazine’s Legal Elite, and Atlanta Super Lawyers. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Emory University Law School’s Center for Transactional Law and Practice program. He earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University, and his J.D. degree from Harvard.
