MMM Wellness Initiative Featured in American Lawyer

05.18.2023

Amid a persistently high number of lawyers with depression in Big Law, law firms are increasingly seeking mental health solutions together through industrywide cooperation, while firms are also exploring their own well-being approaches for lawyers and staff. Law firms up and down the Am Law 200 are still trying to understand the best approaches to address mental health concerns of their lawyers and staff. Eight months ago, MMM launched a new initiative to make mental health more accessible by hiring a therapist to provide on-site, confidential services for all employees. This program has lowered the barrier to entry for the firm’s employees, making it easier to access mental health resources.

“It (can take) months to find someone,” said Managing Partner Simon Malko. “If someone breaks an ankle, they can get a doctor the same day. And others had similar experiences. But what if we created a system where we have someone in-house? No commitment, no costs.”
