Atlanta (September 15, 2020) - For the third year in a row, Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP has earned both the Mansfield and Mansfield Plus certifications from Diversity Lab.
The Mansfield Rule certification means the law firm considers women, attorneys of color, LGBTQ+ attorneys, and attorneys with disabilities -- at least 30 percent of the candidate pool -- for recruitment, governance roles, equity partner promotions and inclusion in formal pitch presentations to clients. The Plus certification means that the firm succeeded in placing diverse attorneys in at least 30 percent of the leadership positions.
“The guidelines for the certification get harder every year, so to be able to say we are both Mansfield 3.0 and Plus certified is a big accomplishment. I am very proud of the firm’s efforts,” said MMM Managing Partner Simon Malko. “We recognize there is still more work to do - we just signed up to be considered for Mansfield 4.0, as well.”
Only 100 firms nationwide earned Mansfield 3.0 certification. Only about two-thirds of those firms also earned the additional Plus recognition.
“MMM is working every day to hire and retain more diverse voices,” said Dan Huynh, who chairs the firm’s Diversity Committee. “I’m proud that the firm has participated in the program since its inception, and we will continue to pursue additional certifications. We are committed to leading the legal industry in diversity and inclusion efforts.”
MMM joined Mansfield’s pilot program in 2017, earning Mansfield and Mansfield Plus certifications under the 1.0 and 2.0 stages of the program in 2018 and 2019. The Mansfield 4.0 results are expected to be announced next year.
