Technology Financial & Legal Forum to Focus on Survival Tactics, Morris, Manning & Martin and Porter Keadle Moore Host E

04.22.2009

Leaders in the technology industry will gather for the 2nd Annual Technology Financial & Legal Forum next month. The “Survival Series” event will provide technology executives with legal and accounting ideas to help their organizations survive and grow in 2009. Sponsored by Porter Keadle Moore, LLP (PKM), a full service accounting and consulting firm, and law firm Morris, Manning Martin, LLP (MMM), the event will take place May 14 in Buckhead. Professionals from the legal and accounting industries will participate in a moderated panel discussion regarding practical advice pertaining to technology companies.

John C. Yates, Partner in charge of the technology practice at MMM, will serve as moderator. Mr. Yates is one of the pioneers of the technology law field and has been practicing exclusively in the Atlanta area for more than 25 years. PKM Partners Sal Inserra and Dawn Patrick and MMM Partner David Calhoun will join Mr. Yates as panelists.

The Technology Financial & Legal Forum was initiated last year to provide an open forum for discussion on topics that are timely and relevant to technology executives. “There is an undeniably large and thriving technology community in the city of Atlanta,” said Ms. Patrick. “Technology companies are key to the city’s future and we are excited to be in a position to help technology executives and entrepreneurs cut through the legal and accounting red tape and let them focus on taking their ideas to market.”

Topics of this year’s forum will include, but are not limited to: the impact of the Obama budget on technology companies; the current state of the overall venture capital market; various methods for preserving cash and cutting expenses; insight into legal issues associated with workforce reduction; estate and tax planning; and tips for cost-effective recapitalization.

“In today’s economy we all need to take extra precautions to ward off any unexpected financial hardships,” Mr. Calhoun said. “That’s why now more than ever, professional services providers need to take every opportunity to educate business owners and keep them up to date.”

The event will be held at 103 West, located at 103 West Paces Ferry Road in Buckhead. For more information or to register, please call 404-420-5916.
