MMM Forms Healthcare IT Practice: Stimulus Package Prompts Upgrade

02.25.2009

Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP has launched a Healthcare Information Technology Practice. The practice, a natural marriage between two of the firm’s more robust practice areas – healthcare and technology – was formed in part to assist clients with the healthcare technology aspects of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The firm has practiced and counseled clients in the healthcare IT space for years; the stimulus package made it appropriate to formalize the practice’s formation.

The Practice will assist information technology companies, healthcare providers, employers and health plans in all aspects of the data security, privacy and use and transmission of data on both a state and federal level. Specifically, the practice’s team members can assist with HIPAA privacy and security regulations, compliance programs, data privacy and security regulations, standards for electronic medical records and personal health records, and Medicare and Medicaid regulations.

The core team will include partner Michele Madison, a leading healthcare regulatory and transactions lawyer; partners Larry Street and Sandra Sheets Gardiner, well-regarded technology lawyers; and of counsel Joseph Holahan, who has extensive experience with privacy issues.
