Energy & Infrastructure Team Joins MMM

02.18.2014

Washington, D.C. (February 18, 2014) ─ Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP has recruited a three person Energy & Infrastructure team to join its expanding D.C. office.  Stuart Broom and Bradley Nowak join as partners, while Warren Nowlin joins as Senior Counsel.  The group will work closely with the firm’s highly regarded Environmental, Real Estate, Corporate and Tax practices.

Prior to moving to MMM, the group were members of Williams Mullen’s Washington, D.C. office. The team specializes in energy, environmental and infrastructure projects. This involves planning, procuring, negotiating, contracting, tax structuring, permitting and financing a wide range of projects. These include co-generation and renewable energy projects (solar, wind, hydro, etc.) as well as water and wastewater treatment and solid waste management facilities including landfills, waste-to-energy and material recovery facilities. In addition, Nowlin and Nowak also counsel clients in the areas of corporate, international and financing transactions. Their roles range from negotiating and structuring organizational, M&A, infrastructure and financing documents to working with investment banks, multilateral and bilateral financing institutions and governmental agencies in securing funding and contracting for concessions.

With the arrival of this team, Morris, Manning & Martin will be among the leading law firms in the U.S. providing counsel for project and infrastructure development, including public-private partnerships (P3) and privatizations. During the past 30 years, the team has represented clients in over 100 public-private partnerships, including the drafting and negotiation of over 100 design-build and design-build-operate contracts.

“Our critical growth in D.C. must fit one of two models; the additions must either have a practice that is unique to the D.C. market and offer a service area needed by our clients, or they must broaden and deepen our existing practice areas,” said Louise Wells, the firm’s Managing Partner. “These new team members perfectly fit the second model.  They will deepen our already considerable reach into the environmental field and broaden our reach into energy/infrastructure and P3 projects. They are an excellent fit and a great team.”
