Matthew C. Wilmot counsels health care systems on corporate transactions, regulatory and legislative issues, and litigation, with a focus on healthcare fraud and abuse, HIPAA, Anti-Kickback and Stark compliance, contracting, medical staff issues and risk analysis.
Matt’s experience as former solo in-house counsel for a 700+ patient beds two-anchor hospital system includes negotiating and reviewing and advising the Chief Executive Officer and Administration on system agreements; ensuring effective implementation of system-wide HIPAA privacy policies and practices; ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, supervising system cooperation with on-site state and federal surveyors; and training hospital providers and administrators on pertinent healthcare issues such as HIPAA, EMTALA, and risk mitigation. Prior to serving as in-house counsel, Matt practiced healthcare law for a boutique firm representing healthcare systems, medical providers, and insurers in a variety of matters.
