Jonathan Link assists clients in all manners of patent enforcement proceedings, from district court litigation to the International Trade Commission (ITC) to the Patent Trial and Appeals Board (PTAB) at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Jonathan has extensive litigation experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in litigation, providing strategic counseling on intellectual property issues. He is recognized as one of “The World’s Leading Patent Practitioners” for litigation and ITC litigation by Intellectual Asset Management 2017.

Jonathan is also a registered patent attorney with a wide experience in obtaining and monetizing patent assets for clients in a variety of technologies. Jonathan has counseled clients regarding: the development of strategic patent portfolios through patent procurement (prosecution); non-infringement, invalidity and product-clearance options; due diligence investigations, including for mergers and acquisitions; development of patent and other intellectual property enforcement programs; and licensing transactions and negotiations. Jonathan started his career at the USPTO as an examiner.

Representative Experience

  • In the Matter of Certain Semiconductor Chips And Products Containing Same, No. 337-TA-753 (ITC) Represented two respondents against allegations of patent infringement as well as numerous other semiconductor manufacturers and customers. The ITC found no violation as the patents were found to be either not infringed or invalid.
  • In the Matter of Certain Semiconductor Integration Circuits Using Tungsten Metallization and Products Containing the Same, No. 337-TA-648 (ITC)Represented Complainants alleging patent infringement against 27 semiconductor manufacturers. Obtained numerous settlements for the client on favorable terms.
  • InterDigital v. ZTE(D. Del.) Represented Complainant in patent infringement matter, successfully obtaining a jury verdict of infringement of three mobile communication patents.
  • Samsung v. NVIDIA (E.D. Va.) Represented Defendant in defense alleged infringement of patent directed toward semiconductor processing and circuit design. A jury verdict of non-infringement of the circuit design patent was obtained, as there was a mistrial on the remaining patents.
  • Verizon v. Vonage (E.D. Va.)Represented Plaintiff in successfully obtaining a jury verdict of infringement of three voice-over-internet protocol (VOIP) patents, as well as receiving an injunction.
  • MercExchange v. eBay (E.D. Va.) Represented Plaintiff in obtaining a jury verdict of infringement of an online auction patent. This verdict resulted in an injunction against eBay.
