At Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP, achieving greater diversity within the firm is essential to delivering excellent service to our clients.  We are a firm that serves a wide array of regional, national and international companies and institutions.  We understand that having a diverse complement of attorneys and staff gives our clients a greater breadth of perspective, thereby contributing to the success of our firm and our clients. When we provide our clients with teams of lawyers to support their legal needs, diversity is an essential consideration.

Building a diverse core: Internally, our commitment to diversity permeates all levels of our firm’s governance.  Female and minority partners and executives hold many prominent positions within Morris, Manning & Martin, including Managing Partner.  Senior female lawyers and lawyers of color serve in leadership roles on our practice committees and our firm’s Management Committee.

Improving and maintaining diversity infuses every firm activity, from recruiting and retention to human resource policy making, practice development and community outreach. Our Diversity Committee holds itself accountable to this commitment.  Composed of both partners, associates and staff, the Diversity Committee regularly reports to the firm’s Management Committee.

Recruiting for diversity: Morris, Manning & Martin makes diversity a recruiting imperative.  We work hard to develop relationships with law schools, governmental organizations and undergraduate schools to increase the diversity in our recruitment pool.

Championing successful careers at Morris, Manning & Martin: Our firm supports individuals throughout their careers at the firm to help them achieve excellence.  A significant number of our lawyers have flexible work schedules that allow them to maintain a balance between their careers and their families.  A number of our lawyers, including partners, of counsel and special counsel, work flexible schedules, and a number of these lawyers have been promoted to partner while on those schedules.  We work with these individuals to tailor their schedules to their needs, while at the same time meeting the demands of the practice groups and the needs of clients.

Working together to achieve results: Improving diversity at Morris, Manning & Martin is everyone’s job. To quote our EEO policy, we must all "accept a full share of responsibility in making Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP an equal opportunity employer in every sense of the term."  To that end, Morris, Manning & Martin:

  • Annually participates in and recruits from job fairs for minority, female and GBLT law students;
  • Maintains a network of minority and female partners who assist in recruiting interested and qualified candidates;
  • Actively participates in local bar association summer associate diversity initiatives; and
  • Actively recruits established and high-quality minority and female lawyers from other firms.
