Atlanta (April 2018) – Finding and keeping clients can be key to progressing in a legal career, but information on how to do that can be hard to come by. That’s one reason the State Bar of Georgia Diversity Program (GDP) is holding a business development symposium this month.
The event is set for Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Bar headquarters located at104 Marietta St. N.W., Atlanta, GA 30303.
The annual event is aimed at mid level and senior associates, as well as junior partners. It includes a panel discussion with law firm partners, government attorneys and in-house counsel as well as a presentation about personal brand development. It closes with a networking mixer.
“Law school doesn’t teach attorneys how to handle the business side of law, but it’s critical to advancing a career,” said GDP chair Clyde Mize, who is also a partner in the Real Estate practice of Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP.
“Who else better to learn from than in-house counsel who give out the work, and from law firm partners who do a good job getting and keeping clients,” Mize added. “It will also help young lawyers better understand how to develop a personal brand, position themselves in front of the right audience to pitch for the business, then keep the business.”
Participants will earn two continuing legal education (CLE) credits. Click here to register.
