The fact that White Collar work often increases when the economy slows is one reason MMM launched its newest practice area, says The Daily Report. The publication interviewed SEC enforcement attorney Matthew Alexander, who joined MMM’s Washington, D.C. office to launch the White Collar Defense, Investigations & Compliance Practice.
“Whenever you have new regulations (and) changing economic conditions, that creates questions from a compliance perspective about ensuring that your compliance program is properly tailored,” Alexander told the Law.com affiliate.
Litigation Group Chair Jeff Douglass added that the strategic move deepens and expands the firm’s already strong offerings.
“The bottom line is that this practice helps better service our clients’ needs,” said Douglass. “It’s something that they’ve been asking for and we’re excited that we have the resources to dedicate to this now.”
