Morris, Manning and Martin, LLP is currently seeking a Benefits Manager to join our Human Resources Department in Atlanta. The Benefits Manager will be responsible for managing, administering, communicating and processing our robust benefits program for all firm personnel. Working closely with the firm’s benefits broker and firm leadership, the Benefits Manager will contribute to the development and strategic administration of the benefit programs. This position is an integral part of the leave of absence function and is responsible for creating a positive employee experience and seamless leave of absence administration. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented candidate who is capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with ten (10) years of experience managing or facilitating benefits, preferably in a law firm environment, or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
- Knowledge of federal and state laws (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, etc.)
- Solid understanding of pre-tax, post-tax benefits, as well as leave of absence administration
- Demonstrated experience managing all facets of open enrollment for an organization
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with a client service approach
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
Responsibilities:
- Administer employee benefits programs such as medical, dental, vision, life, accidental death and dismemberment, disability, voluntary benefits, and wellness programs
- Conduct benefits orientation with new hires and newly eligible employees
- Coordinate all facets of open enrollment, including meetings, employee communications, and backend system processes
- Process benefits enrollment and termination with appropriate carriers
- Assist employees and dependents with benefits questions and claims issues to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution
- Coordinate COBRA through third party administrator, including employee communication
- Verify monthly premium statements for all group policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims, and costs
- Work with carrier representatives and broker to resolve any administrative problems
- Maintain employee benefits filing systems and ensure benefit changes are entered appropriately in payroll system for payroll deduction
- Coordinate disability related matters with disability carrier
- Assist in obtaining statistics and information in renewal process, including census data
- Coordinate meetings designed to help employees obtain information and understand firm benefits and other incentive programs
- Ensure distribution of required employee notices
- Complete benefits reporting requirements
- Maintain the firm’s compliance with all benefit-related federal, state and local regulations, to include COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Workers Compensation, OSHA and USERRA
- Assist in preparation of the Form 5500
- Review and finalize Form 1094C and Form 1095C
- Ensure vendor performance meets high expectations for all firm personnel
- Attend virtual and in-person meetings
- Ensure appropriate compliance posters are in place and updated in all offices
- Prepare employee benefits termination paperwork and meet with departing employees
- Assist with organizing HR-sponsored firm events
- Maintain a reputation of integrity and dependability
- Serve as back up to others in the HR Department
- Flexibility to undertake additional duties as assigned
