What Now? What You Need to Know Regarding NC's New Lien & Bond Laws

03.26.2013

Last summer, sweeping changes to North Carolina’s lien and bond statutes were signed into law.  The changes significantly impact the manner and ability to preserve, perfect, and assert lien and bond claims in North Carolina, and impose new responsibilities and consequences on owners, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers on both private and public projects.

Some of these changes were already in effect, whereas the remaining changes will be effective as of April 1, 2013.  Are you already serving your claims of lien, providing subcontractors with the “Contractor’s Project Statement,” and serving your “Notice of Public Contract?"  What about the "Lien Agent?"

This informative webinar shed light on the actions each party in the chain of contract should take to comply with the new law, and what further steps will be needed come April 1, 2013 with the arrival of the Lien Agent.
