Catharine B. Wooten is an associate in the Litigation Practice. She focuses her practice on complex civil litigation with a particular emphasis on commercial and class action litigation, products liability, insurance coverage matters, and business torts.
Ms. Wooten has extensive experience in handling class action cases involving consumer fraud, contract and sales tax issues. This experience includes handling cases under the Class Action Fairness Act, including successful appeals to the Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeal.
Prior to joining the firm, she served as lead associate in numerous putative consumer class actions for a Fortune 50 company in several state and federal jurisdictions. Over the past five years, Ms. Wooten has successfully opposed class certification, represented companies in RICO actions and other high stakes litigation, litigated insurance coverage disputes, represented a national financial institution in an arbitration before the NYSE, provided litigation risk assessments to clients in relation to proposed corporate transactions, and participated in the litigation and settlement of post-closing disputes. More recently, Ms. Wooten helped secure a $2.2 million jury verdict and successfully defended a counterclaim under the Georgia Trade Secrets Act brought by a leading mortgage company.
Ms. Wooten is active both within the firm and in the community. She serves on the firm’s Recruiting Committee and participates actively in the firm’s pro bono activities and diversity initiatives. Ms. Wooten also serves on the Atlanta Leadership Council of the American Diabetes Association.
