Shanyun Lu is a registered patent agent in the firm's Intellectual Property Practice. Dr. Lu counsels clients in intellectual property law, particularly in U.S. and international patent prosecution. His current practice focuses on patent prosecution in the following areas: biotechnology, bioengineering, medical device, structure biology, drug discovery, bioinformatics, biochemistry, molecular biology and microbiology. He has prepared and prosecuted more than 200 patent applications in a variety of areas including biotechnology, medical device, drug discovery, nanotechnology, semiconductors and electronic devices.
Dr. Lu brings over 15 years of academic research experience to his legal work. He was most recently at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) where he was Assistant Manager for X-ray Crystallography Core Facility. Prior to UAB, Dr. Lu was a faculty member in the College of Life Sciences, Peking University in Beijing, China. He was a biologist specializing in biochemistry, molecular biology, x-ray crystallography, structure-based drug discovery, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and bioinformatics.
Dr. Lu has published his research findings in journals including: Biochemistry, Proteins, Protein Science, Protein Engineering, Journal of Biological Science, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Journal of Immunology, Journal of Virology, Carbohydrate Research, Neurological Research, Acta Crystallographica Section D and other international recognized research venues.
