“The Way Forward” is Focus of Ga. Bar Diversity Program Event

09.18.2018

Atlanta (September 18, 2018) – “The Way Forward: Achieving Inclusion Through Authentic Leadership” is the theme of The State Bar of Georgia Diversity Program's Fall continuing legal education event. The program, which is open all Georgia attorneys, is planned for September 27 at Bar headquarters at 104 Marietta St., N.W., Atlanta, Ga. 30303.

“We have assembled a dynamic group of presenters and speakers who are sure to make this year's program interesting, engaging and inspiring,” said GDP Executive Director Rebecca Christian Smith.

The event will start at 8:15 a.m. with sessions focusing on authentic leadership and creating environments that foster authenticity.

“Organizations that promote authenticity allow their employees to bring their backgrounds, cultural identities and skills to work, which in turn attracts and encourages talent that creates better products and services,” said GDP Chair Clyde Mize. “In the legal community, it strengthens client relationships while decreasing attrition and costs associated with employee turnover,” added Mize, a partner in Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP’s real estate practice.

Speakers include Helen Ho – who founded Asian Americans Advancing Justice – and Georgia Tech’s Director of Culture, Inclusion and Engagement Cheryl Cofield. The morning will conclude with an informal “couch conversation” so participants can share their experiences and discuss what they’ve learned. The event wraps up with a luncheon and keynote address by Al Vivian, President and CEO of Basic Diversity, Inc.

Three CLE credits are included with registration. To register, visit www.gabar.org. For more information, contact Smith at gadiversityprogram@gmail.com.
