--Morgen will lend her experience in hospitality and law to help women climb the corporate ladder--

Atlanta (May 10, 2019) – Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP (MMM), a full service AmLaw 200 firm, is pleased to announce that Partner Catherine Morgen has been appointed to the Board of Directors for Castell Project, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the careers of women professionals in the hospitality industry. Morgen, who is a partner in MMM’s Commercial Real Estate Development, Finance and Hospitality Practices in Atlanta, joins the three-year-old organization in its goal to ensure that women move to 1-in-3 executive positions of power and influence in the industry, as well as the organization’s “Ladder Up” capital campaign that has a goal of raising $1 million dollars to help women climb the corporate ladder.

“Working for a firm that is committed to encouraging and investing in female leadership both within the firm and in the community has played an instrumental role in my own professional career. Like most women, I have seen and experienced many of the barriers women face when climbing the corporate ladder in hospitality and law,” said Morgen. “There are few organizations quite like Castell Project that actively encourage and develop leadership for women in hospitality at the executive level. I am honored to be selected for this position and I look forward to continuing my support of the organization.”

“Catherine could not be a better fit for this role, as her experience in hospitality and law provides the perspective and voice we need to propel our mission,” said Peggy Berg, president of Castell Project, Inc. “I am confident her experience will help us advance our many initiatives, as well as strengthen our relationship with Morris, Manning & Martin.”

For the past two years, Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP and Castell Project, Inc. co-sponsored a mentoring event at the Hunter Hotel Investment Conference which targeted up-and-coming female leaders in the hospitality industry, by focusing on specific industry topics and providing advice on growing networks. The participation for the event has grown each year and the organizations expect that to continue in 2020 and beyond.

Morgen focuses on representing real estate clients with an emphasis on the hospitality industry. She represents developers, owners and managers of hotel properties in acquisitions, dispositions and mergers, developing their properties, negotiating hotel management agreements, franchise agreements and technical services agreements, arranging financing, and leasing. Morgen also serves as chair of MMM’s Women’s Initiative.
