Morris, Manning & Martin Partner Chris Petersen Testifies Before National Association of Insurance Commissioners on Health C

01.08.2010

Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP is pleased to announce that L. Chris Petersen, Partner in the Washington D.C. office, was a witness at the December 4, 2009 National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ hearing on the Health Care Reform Update.

Mr. Petersen’s testimony focused on issues facing insurers under the proposed federal health care reform legislation. He also addressed steps that the NAIC and state policy makers should take to prepare for the strong possibility of reform legislation being adopted at the federal level.

Created in 1871 to address the need to coordinate regulation of multistate insurers, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) is the organization of insurance regulators from the 50 states, the District of Columbia and the five U.S. territories. A state insurance regulator’s primary responsibility is to protect the interests of insurance consumers. The NAIC provides a forum for the development of uniform policy when uniformity is appropriate and promotes the shared objective of appropriate financial and market conduct regulation. For more information about the NAIC, visit www.naic.org.
