Georgia Trend magazine has named Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP partners Cassady (“Cass) V. Brewer and David W. Cranshaw to its 2009 Legal Elite. The recognition honors the most effective attorneys in the state of Georgia across ten different practice areas, as selected by their peers. The winners are recognized in the magazine’s December edition.
Brewer practices in the firm’s Tax, Exempt Organizations and Wealth Planning practices where he focuses in the areas of business formations, mergers and acquisitions, partnerships and limited liability companies, tax-exempt investments in real estate, the taxation of closely-held businesses, business succession planning and wealth transfer and protection. He currently serves as Chair of the American Bar Association’s Real Estate Tax Subcommittee on Environmental Tax Issues. Brewer’s additional honors include inclusion in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and Georgia Super Lawyers. This is Brewer’s third time being named among Georgia’s Legal Elite.
Cranshaw practices in the areas of creditors’ rights, bankruptcy and commercial litigation. He routinely handles secured creditor representation for lenders, and represents borrowers or equity holders, in a variety of significant workout, restructuring and bankruptcy matters. He also serves as an operating or liquidating Trustee in Chapter 11 cases at the request of lenders or other parties in interest, and as a committee counsel. Additional honors include rankings in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, The Legal 500, Georgia’s Best Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America and Georgia Super Lawyers.
