MMM’s Christina Graham Joins Horizons Atlanta Board

05.15.2019

Atlanta (May 15, 2019) – Horizons Atlanta, a nonprofit that supports K-12 students from underserved local communities through its six-week summer and year-round learning programs, has added Christina Graham, a partner in the Real Estate Practice of Morris, Manning & Martin, to its Board of Directors. Two other business leaders – Marc Fordham, assistant vice president and external relations officer for the Public Affairs Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta; and Aron Levine, head of consumer banking & investments for Bank of America – joined the board as well.

“The Horizons Atlanta board members are extremely supportive and dedicated in making sure that our mission to help decrease the opportunity gap with Atlanta’s underserved students is fulfilled,” said Alex Wan, executive director of Horizons Atlanta. “We are excited to add these new members to the board as they share the same passion and excitement as we all do in making a positive change in the lives of these students.”

Morris, Manning & Martin has worked closely with Horizons Atlanta for some time. Each year, MMMPact, the law firm’s corporate social responsibility program, picks one of the many nonprofit organizations it supports to be its nonprofit partner. The firm chose Horizons Atlanta as its 2018 partner, which means it helped the group raise funds while lending volunteer support throughout that calendar year.

Horizons is a transformational, community-centered education program working to close the opportunity and achievement gaps for underserved children. Horizons' signature offering is a six-week learning program focused not just on academics, but also arts, sports and college and career exploration. Horizons partners with independent schools, colleges, and universities across the metro area to host programs and recruit skilled, professional teachers as staff. Horizons students, who come to Horizons with a broad range of academic ability, gain two to three months of reading and math skills each summer, learn to swim, and enjoy year-round support.
