MMMPact Sees New Leaders, Record Giving

02.21.2022

Atlanta (February 21, 2022) – MMMPact, the corporate social responsibility program at Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP, nominated two new leaders as it approaches its 10thanniversary. It also announced the date for a major fundraising event for its current nonprofit partner.

The new leaders include Patrick Lowther, who is the new Chair of the MMMPact Steering Committee. He takes over from former Chair Christina Graham, who has accepted a spot on MMM’s Executive Committee. Larkin Ellzey also moves into a leadership role with MMMPact, as Chair of the Civic Leadership Initiative.

Lowther, who has served on MMMPact’s Steering Committee for several years, also chairs the Community Involvement Initiative, which encourages all MMM attorneys and staff members to engage with as many nonprofits as possible.

“Patrick is not only a natural leader, but he is personally dedicated to giving back and making an impact in our communities,” said Graham, who remains an emeritus member of MMMPact’s Steering Committee. “MMMPact is in great hands.”

As the leader of the Civic Leadership Initiative, Ellzey will support his colleagues motivated to move into meaningful leadership positions with community organizations. MMM encourages every attorney in the firm to become a leader in at least one prominent civic organization of his or her choice.

“Larkin has consistently shown his commitment to giving back to the community, and to the firm,” Graham said. “He is the perfect person to help guide those who are near and dear to us.”

Since its inception 10 years ago, MMMPact has secured hundreds of thousands of dollars annually for 262 nonprofit organizations. Donations from the firm itself plus its appeals to outside donors are expected to top a total of $2 million since its inception 10 years ago.

MMMPact’s largest beneficiary is traditionally an organization that the Steering Committee chooses as its official nonprofit partner. The current partner is the Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta (PBPA), which offers free legal help to individuals and organizations in need. MMM will host its signature Cheers beer and wine-tasting fundraiser on May 13 of this year at Atlanta’s Intercontinental Hotel in Buckhead to benefit PBPA. Tickets are available here. A new nonprofit partner will be chosen this summer.

Civic Leadership and Community Involvement are two of MMMPact’s five outreaches. The leaders of the other three initiatives, who are continuing their terms, include Diversity Chair Dan Huynh, Pro Bono Chair Jeff Douglass, and Women’s Initiative Chair Catherine Morgen.
