MMM Seeks Mansfield 6.0 Certification

(August 16, 2022) - Morris, Manning & Martin has committed to seek certification under Mansfield 6.0 – a rigorous test of diversity, equity and inclusion in America’s law firms. The firm achieved certification in each of the previous years for which results are now public. This sixth year includes the most difficult requirements to date.

To achieve certification, firms must adopt and adhere to specific requirements, including considering a slate of at least 30% historically underrepresented talent when appointing or electing leaders, promoting into the equity partnership, hiring senior-level laterals and more. Under-represented talent can include women, members of racial and ethnic groups, are LGBTQ+ or have disabilities. Firm leaders must also participate in monthly “knowledge sharing” meetings with participating firms and legal departments.

Diversity Lab, which devised the certification requirements, says the initiative is grounded in behavioral science and metrics and is proven to show positive results. The results of the Mansfield 5.0 Certification will be announced later this year.
