MMM Partners Head to India for Speaking, Networking

01.19.2011

Atlanta (January 2011) – Two Atlanta attorneys, John Yates and Jason D’Cruz, head to India in February to speak at conferences and meet with leaders of Mumbai and Bangalore’s business and financial communities. D’Cruz, who is of Indian origin, is a partner in the Employment Law practice at Morris, Manning & Martin, and co-chairs the law firm’s IndUS group. Yates is the head of the firm’s Technology group.

During the trip, set for February 1 through 10, the attorneys will speak at the Indian General Counsel Roundtable in Mumbai, where GCs will gather, network and brainstorm about cross-border issues. The event is co-sponsored by KPMG and U.K.-based law firm Osborne Clark. Yates and D’Cruz will attend the NASSCOM India Leadership Forum, also in Mumbai, and Yates will speak about structuring deals for high tech and biotech companies at iTechLaw’s 7th International Asian Conference in Bangalore, India's high tech capital.

“Trips such as this one help us both share and gain knowledge on topics such as cross-border mergers and acquisitions and global employment law,” D’Cruz says.

They will also meet with a number of business and financial leaders to locate new strategic partners, help solidify the firm’s Indo-American relationships, visit clients and locate new sources of funding for entrepreneurs. Throughout the trip, Yates will post video interviews and highlights on the “Tech Trek to India 2011” section of his blog, the MMM Tech Law & Business Report. Since Yates is on the board and Executive Committee of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, and co-chairs its Business Recruitment Sub-Committee and Technology Marketing Council, he will share information about why Atlanta is a top U.S. location for India-based businesses.

“Atlanta has the fourth largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies in the U.S., plus industry clusters such as high tech, health information technology, supply chain logistics and advance manufacturing,” Yates says. “The economic ties between the areas are already strong, and we want to do our part to make them stronger.”
