MMM Partner Jim Maxson Elected to Board of Directors of the Life Insurance Settlement Association

Atlanta, GA (May 9, 2011) – Jim Maxson, a Partner in the Atlanta office of Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP has been elected to serve a two year term on the Board of Directors of the Life Insurance Settlement Association.  Maxson is Co-Chair of the Firm’s Insurance-linked Securities Practice and member of the Firm’s Insurance and Reinsurance Practice.

The Life Insurance Settlement Association is the nation’s oldest and largest organization representing participants in the Settlement Industry with a current membership of over 134 Companies, doing business in all fifty states and the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It was founded in 1995 with a membership consisting of brokers, providers, financing entities, and service providers to the industry.

Maxson, who in 2009 was selected one of the industry’s Most Influential People by Life Settlement Review, worked for four years as the Executive Vice President , General Counsel and Acting Chief Operating Officer of a leading life settlement provider company.  His practice is focused on insurance-linked securities (life settlements), funds & alternative investments, mergers & acquisitions, private placements, and insurance regulatory issues.  Maxson earned his law degree from Ohio State University and his undergraduate degree from Denison University.
