MMM Names Pro Bono and Associate Involvement Chairs

08.01.2022

Atlanta (August 1, 2022) – Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP has named two new leaders to serve on the Steering Committee of MMMPact, the firm’s social responsibility outreach. Elliott Coward will chair the firm’s Pro Bono Initiative, and Henry “Butch” Bailey, Jr. will lead the Associate Involvement effort.

Coward, a partner in the firm’s Healthcare Group, takes over from Jeff Douglass, who chaired the Pro Bono Initiative for the past seven years and now heads MMM’s Litigation Practice. During that time, MMM’s Pro Bono Initiative received numerous accolades, including:

  • Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta’s (PBPA) “Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year” in 2016
  • State Bar of Georgia’s “Business Commitment Award” in 2019
  • PBPA’s “Above & Beyond Award” in 2022

“Elliott is the perfect choice to take our firm’s existing efforts to even greater heights,” said Douglass. “She has been heavily involved in a variety of pro bono matters for years and is extremely enthusiastic about expanding the program’s goals.” Coward has previously been honored by the firm as a “Pro Bono All Star,” a designation given to attorneys who volunteer 50 or more hours per year.

The Pro Bono Initiative is one of MMMPact’s five core efforts. The other four include the Women’s Initiative, Diversity Initiative, Civic Leadership and Community Involvement.

Bailey, a real estate attorney, now heads the Associate Involvement effort. He takes over from Ashley Klein, who now volunteers with MMMPact’s Women’s Initiative. The organization's goal is to rally the support of associates at the firm and to increase engagement with MMMPact.

"MMMPact is a critical part of our firm’s culture of giving back," said MMMPact Steering Committee Chair Patrick Lowther. "Butch is a natural leader and the perfect person to recruit other young lawyers to get involved, reinforce their sense of belonging and help us make this community a better place."
