Former Tax Judge Beaudrot Returns to MMM

01.06.2015

Atlanta (January 6, 2015) – Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP celebrates the start of the new year with the return of attorney Charles “Chuck” Beaudrot. Beaudrot is a Senior Partner in the Tax and Real Estate Capital Markets practice groups.

Beaudrot helped build the tax aspect of the firm’s Real Estate Investment Trust Practice, which grew to handle some of the largest REIT transactions in the nation. In 2012, he was appointed Chief Judge of the Georgia Tax Tribunal – the state’s first tax court. Under his leadership, the independent executive branch forum resolved more than 1,600 tax appeals.

Beaudrot worked for MMM for decades before accepting the judicial appointment. He says loyalty and the opportunity to work with his former colleagues drew him back.

“The Tribunal is running beautifully and is ready for the next chief judge,” said Beaudrot, who will continue as judge pro tempore until a successor takes office. “Returning to MMM gives me the opportunity to mentor the firm’s next generation of tax lawyers.”

In addition to counseling REIT clients, Beaudrot’s practice will include corporate and tax partnership law; transactional, state, and local tax planning; and tax controversy work.

“When Chuck left to become the founding Chief Judge of the Georgia Tax Tribunal, we were proud of our friend’s achievement and the public acknowledgement of the respect he commands,” offered MMM Managing Partner Louise Wells. “A partner important to both our firm culture and our client services, in one of the most sophisticated tax practices in the country, has returned.”

Beaudrot frequently speaks to industry organizations about tax, partnership and corporate issues. He is also committed to education, serving as an Adjunct Professor at Emory University Law School’s Center for Transactional Law and Practice. His credentials include helping to draft Georgia’s LLC and LLP laws, and being included in peer-based rankings of excellence including Chambers USA, The Legal 500, Super Lawyers and the Legal Elite.

He earned J.D. degree from Harvard University and his B.A. from Duke, where he was  Phi Beta Kappa and the Angier B. Duke Memorial Scholar.
