Feds Say Turkish Steel Refund Suit Jumped The Gun

Borusan Mannesmann, Turkish steel pipe maker and International Trade client, has alleged that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) owes a refund for 50% tariffs paid on the pipes used to construct the Gulf Coast Express Pipeline, pipes that were eligible for an exclusion.

The federal government argues that the plaintiff is prematurely protesting and filing suit, while Julie Mendoza, MMM Partner and counsel to Borusan, believes that CBP is improperly denying a refund that her client is entitled to under the exclusion and she hopes the court will move quickly to hear the merits of the appeal.
