Atlanta (February 3, 2012) ─ The mentoring program at Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP, which helps young women advance in their legal careers, has won first place in Chambers & Partner’s 2012 Women in Law Awards.
Chambers & Partners, a highly-respected publisher of legal directories, describes the awards as honoring the outstanding female stars of the American legal community who have made an outstanding contribution to gender diversity awareness and mentoring. The firm won in the category of “Best Mentoring in a Law Firm.” MMM’s program matches young women attorneys with seasoned partners who offer advice, encourage interaction and collaboration with their clients, and become advocates for their advancement.

Mentoring has been one of Wells’ priorities since she was named managing partner three years ago. She had been the firm’s first female attorney and first female partner before earning the top spot. In those three years, more than 40% of the firm’s new partners have been female. Plus, more than one-third of the associates and Of Counsel attorneys, as well as 35% of new hires, have been women.
“This program has been extremely successful in developing and retaining great talent,” said partner Frank Bazzel, who mentored attorney Christina Graham since her arrival as an associate at the firm through her election to the partnership last year. “The real winners are the young attorneys who are thriving, and clearly advancing, in their careers.”
The winners of the Women in Law Awards were announced Tuesday, February 2 at a ceremony at The Plaza in New York.
