Strategic Hires Strengthen MMM Healthcare Team
February 01, 2012
Atlanta (February 1, 2012) ─ Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP has strengthened its already substantial healthcare law team with the addition of three new attorneys, two of whom have worked in healthcare law for more than two decades. Their experience includes both traditional and modern technologically-advanced areas of service.
- Dan Mohan rejoins the firm as a Partner. He was most recently at Kilpatrick Townsend.
- Bill Boling, formerly with Smith, Moore Leatherwood, is now Of Counsel with the firm.
- John D. Northup III is an Associate.
Mohan and Boling are in the firm’s Atlanta office. Northup is based in Savannah.
“I am thrilled to be back,” said Dan Mohan. “Morris, Manning & Martin and its healthcare practice are the best platform for my practice and clients. I am excited by the firm’s strategic commitment to support and grow a market-leading healthcare practice,” he added.
Mohan represents a number of healthcare companies in corporate and regulatory matters such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other matters. He concentrates his practice on the representation of health care providers, including hospitals and integrated health care delivery systems, physician group practices, home health agencies, post-acute care providers, diagnostic imaging centers and outpatient surgery centers. Honors include inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business and Georgia SuperLawyers. He returned to the firm February 1.
Boling represents major hospitals, academic medical centers, healthcare providers and entrepreneurs nationwide. He served as General Counsel at the Medical College of Georgia Health System from 2001 to 2005 and has more than 25 years experience in transactional, litigation, technology and compliance matters. In recent years he has become increasingly engaged with representation of clients and matters involving technology and electronic innovation in care delivery, such as telemedicine, healthcare IT and privacy issues. Boling, who has been included in prestigious listings such as the Best Lawyers in America, Georgia SuperLawyers, Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business and Nightingale's Healthcare News, says the fact that Morris, Manning & Martin has some of the best healthcare lawyers in the region and state was an important factor in joining the firm. Boling’s first day was Dec. 15.
“I’m impressed by the firm’s leadership, as well as how committed it is to healthcare across the Southeast and throughout Georgia, focusing on providing service to providers in markets well beyond the Atlanta region," Boling says. Another appealing point, he says, is that including himself, the firm has three healthcare lawyers who have been general counsel at large regional hospitals, giving the firm a unique array of hospital-specific operational experience.
Northup’s healthcare experience includes representing hospitals and physicians in real estate and employment-related contractual matters and disputes. Because of his extensive experience handling all aspects of special assets portfolios on behalf of commercial banks, he is also a member of the firm’s Corporate, Commercial Real Estate and Banking Practices. Prior to becoming a lawyer, he was Vice President of a financial services-focused Florida investment bank. His first day was Jan. 3
“I am excited about this transition, as joining Morris Manning's Savannah office allows me to integrate my practice with a diverse group of attorneys so that I can more comprehensively serve the needs of my clients,” Northup said.
