ATLANTA, GA - September 15, 2010 - Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP announced today that Robert E. Saudek, who stepped down as Managing Partner of the firm at the beginning of this year, has been selected by Harvard University to be a 2011 Fellow in Harvard's Advanced Leadership Initiative.
Mr. Saudek is one of MMM's founding partners and has spent 35 years with the firm, including 16 years as Managing Partner. Under his leadership the firm grew to be one of the most successful firms in the Southeastern U.S. and moved into the ranks of the AmLaw 200 U.S. law firms.
Harvard's Advanced Leadership Initiative is designed to enhance and leverage the skills of highly accomplished, experienced leaders who want to start a "second career" that will focus on community and public service and apply their talents to solving significant social problems, including those affecting health and welfare, children, and the environment. The program includes spending one year at Harvard during which the Fellows participate in graduate school courses, seminars, conferences, and "think tanks" exploring solutions to global and local problems.
"I am extremely excited about setting out in a new direction after being in the legal field for so long," offered Saudek, adding "Harvard's Advanced Leadership Initiative offers a tremendous opportunity to address issues of global importance."
Fellows in the program have included the former U.S. Secretary of Transportation, the Assistant to the President of the United States, the CEO of IBM China, the Chairman of Pitney Bowes, the Director of the ABA Center for Pro Bono, the Secretary of Health for Switzerland, CEOs of a variety of other international companies, and managing partners of other leading law firms.
"We will miss Bob greatly. As one of our founding partners and Managing Partner of the firm for so many years, he has played an enormous role in building Morris, Manning & Martin into a major national law firm", said current Managing Partner Louise M. Wells, adding "We are immensely proud of Bob's accomplishment. It's an honor he richly deserves."
