Atlanta, GA (October 19, 2010) – Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP is pleased to announce that it has elected three attorneys to become partners effective January 1, 2011. They are associate Scott L. Allen, of counsel James W. Maxson and associate Duncan W. Miller. Respectively they are representatives of the firm’s corporate, insurance and real estate practices.

Scott L. Allen is in the firm’s Corporate and Securities Practices. His practice focuses primarily on representing public and private companies, including private equity firms and their portfolio companies and family owned enterprises, in general corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and public securities offerings. He received his law degree with honors from Emory University.

James W. Maxson’s areas of expertise include insurance-linked securities, mergers and acquisitions, securities and regulatory issues. He is Co-Chair of the firm’s Life Settlements group and his practice focuses on all aspects of the life settlement industry. He has performed extensive work in the areas of licensing, regulatory compliance, fund structuring and policy acquisitions. Earlier this year, Maxson was recognized in Life Settlement Review as one of The Top Ten Most Influential People in Life Settlements. He received his law degree from Ohio State University.

Duncan W. Miller is a veteran of the real estate industry. He has represented developers, financial institutions and investors in all phases of commercial real estate transactions including financing, acquisitions, dispositions and lending as well as the development of hotels, offices, apartments, condominiums, industrial and retail properties. He received his law degree from Georgetown University.
