John Yates Chosen Interim Chair of MAC PAC

Tech Attorney Returns to Helm of Metro Atlanta Chamber’s Political Action Committee

October 09, 2008

Corporate and technology attorney John Yates is returning to the helm of MAC PAC, the Metropolitan Atlanta Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee. The Chamber has asked him to chair the organization on an interim basis through next year’s legislative session. He first chaired the organization, which he helped found, in 2004.

“John did an outstanding job leading MAC PAC for several years, and we’re grateful that we can call upon him once again to steer us through the 2009 legislative session,” said Sam A. Williams, president of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.

MAC PAC’s mission is to help ensure that the business voice is heard at the Georgia General Assembly. MAC PAC funds, donated by Atlanta companies and individuals, support candidates who take the time to understand and support the legislative agenda of the metro Atlanta business community. Key legislative priorities include traffic congestion, education, quality growth and economic development.

“Making headway on many of these issues requires both state and local attention,” Mr. Yates said. “A partnership with state government is especially critical to maintaining a pro-business environment, especially in these challenging economic times.”

Mr. Yates also chairs the Chamber’s Technology Marketing Council.
