Facing Lawsuits, NLRB Delays Employee Rights Posting Rule
As a follow up to our previous email blast about the new rule, the National Labor Relations Board (“NLRB”) has postponed the effective date of the rule from November 14, 2011 to January 31, 2012. The rule requires businesses to post notices apprising workers of their right to unionize.
“The decision to extend the rollout period followed queries from business and trade organizations indicating uncertainty about which businesses fall under the board’s jurisdiction, and was made in the interest of ensuring broad voluntary compliance,” the NLRB said. “No other changes in the rule, or in the form or content of the notice, will be made.”
