Paul H. Arne is the co-chair of the Technology Transactions Practice and the Privacy and Security Practice at Morris, Manning & Martin. Mr. Arne is also a member of the firm’s Medical Device Practice. He represents technology companies and large end users, with a particular emphasis on complex, outsourcing matters, international transactions, open source software, privacy, university technology transfer, and revenue recognition issues. He is also involved with development, manufacturing, and distribution involving medical devices.
Mr. Arne was formerly the managing editor of The Computer Law Association Bulletin, the scholarly bulletin of the largest international organization of computer law attorneys. In addition to writing numerous technology law articles for a public audience, his legal publications include “Defining Intellectual Property Rights in Georgia: Computermax v. UCR,” published in the Georgia State Bar Journal, a legal publication sent to all licensed Georgia attorneys, and “Solving the Year 2000 Problem: Corporate Counsel’s Role,” published in the Bureau of National Affairs (“BNA”) Year 2000 Law Reporter. Mr. Arne also is the co-author of “Legal Power: A Software Executive’s Guide to Key Legal Practices,” published by Culpepper and Associates. Mr. Arne has recently prepared a White Paper on open source licensing, is the editor of technology law advisories sent to clients, and heads the firm’s open source initiative.
As a frequent speaker and writer on the law affecting technology companies, Mr. Arne has been quoted in ComputerWorld, Business-to-Business magazine, The Atlanta Business Chronicle and The Atlanta Journal/Constitution. He has given over 60 major speeches on technology law and business.
