Protecting Intellectual Property – Insights into the Legal Process

02.12.2009

At The Entrepreneurs and Innovation Summit Mr. Harris will provide an overview of intellectual property (IP) and how it affects the protection of innovation and valuation of the enterprise. He will provide practical pointers on how to manage IP as a business asset to maximize the value of the enterprise. Participants will also learn how IP can help with financing and relationships with strategic partners, as well as protecting against competition.

The luncheon speaker is UGA Eminent Scholar Dr. Steven Stice, the first scientist to clone calves. A world-renowned scientist, entrepreneur and biomedical business owner, he will discuss his scientific experiences and the entrepreneurial endeavors that have come from his ongoing stem cell research. Other participants include Karen Lennon, who won the first-ever Emmy Award for interactive television; Alan Koenning, a corporate venture capitalist with UPS and manager of its Strategic Enterprise Fund, and Chris Hanks, director of the UGA Terry College of Business’ entrepreneurship program. The event is hosted by UGA alum Keith Herndon, whose book Entrepreneurs and Innovation: Creating Value with Emerging Technologies, also features an in-depth interview with Mr. Harris.

The Entrepreneurs and Innovation Summit will be held at the Atlanta Alumni Center in the South Tower of the Atlanta Financial Center in Buckhead. Visit their site to register for the event.
